Revenue operations

Also known as: RevOps

Definition
Revenue operations (RevOps) is the function inside a B2B company that aligns sales, marketing, and customer success around shared data, tooling, and process, typically owning the GTM stack and the metrics that span the funnel.

Revenue operations emerged because the traditional split between sales ops, marketing ops, and customer success ops left gaps where the funnel handed off between teams. RevOps consolidates the responsibility: one team owns the full pipeline data, the integrations between tools, the dashboards that span the journey, and the playbooks that govern how the business goes to market.

In practice, RevOps teams pick and configure the GTM stack, build the workflows that move records and trigger actions, define the data model that the business runs on, and report on the metrics that matter at each stage. The function is closer to engineering than to sales: it is where data, automation, and process live.

The function maps directly onto the design of modern GTM platforms. Custom data models, visual workflow builders, multi-provider enrichment, and AI agents are all RevOps tools. A platform that makes RevOps faster wins because it lets one or two people do the work that used to require a six-person team.

How Revenue operations relates to Clentt

Clentt is built for RevOps. Custom objects let RevOps shape the data model to the business, the visual workflow builder turns process into automation, multi-provider enrichment is configurable per use case, and AI chat with MCP gives the team a direct interface to act on the data.
